building rhythms

What’s the simplest way to play a building? What’s the rhythm of architecture? In BUILDING RHYTHMS I tried playing some of the buildings, railing and sculpture found around Spike Island. Each recording is defined by a path along one side of a building, along a length of chains or railing or just looping around a sculpture. Initially I used a drum-stick, before trying brushes, but you can try this yourself with any stick you can find in situ.

I recommend finding the location and walking alongside the railing/building/object at a steady pace to fully experience this. Headphones highly recommended!
